BIPOC WOMAN. ELDEST DAUGHTER. RECOVERING PERFECTIONIST.
You deserve a therapist who gets it without you having to explain everything.
I'm Dr. Alexis Christine López. As someone who has navigated burnout, perfectionism, and the weight of being everything to everyone, I know what it costs. I also know how freeing it can be to give yourself permission to rest.
I want you to truly hear this:
Asking for help is not a sign of weakness. It's a sign of self-awareness.
Resilience is facing uncertainty with flexibility.
No matter how hard I worked or how much I tried to people-please, I never felt like “enough” - good enough, smart enough, Latina enough. Yet somehow I was also “too much” - too sensitive, too dramatic, too distracted, too shy. After years of sacrificing sleep for “success,” I felt immense pressure to excel at the prestigious university I attended, especially when told that I was only accepted due to affirmative action. As the eldest daughter of immigrant parents, I became an expert at performing strength while quietly trying to keep it together.
It wasn't until years later that I learned I have ADHD (inattentive type), which is largely undiagnosed in BIPOC girls since most research focuses on hyperactive white boys. I felt relieved to finally have words to describe my challenges and experiences. I wasn’t alone in my struggles. At the same time, I felt grief about what could have been - about who I could have been if I’d been seen and supported since childhood.
why i do this work
Whatever you're carrying, you can set it down here.
My journey of learning that rest doesn't need to be earned provided the fertile ground I needed to pursue this work in a sustainable way.
I became a therapist because I know what it's like to carry more than your share and make it look effortless — to appear put together during the day and quietly fall apart at night. I also know what it’s like to figure out who you are outside of what you do for everyone else. That's the work I want to do alongside you.
The key to your liberation is encoded in your hardship.
I meet you where you are, and we build from there. Many clients come to therapy feeling disconnected from themselves, holding onto patterns that once protected them but no longer serve them.
Together, we'll get curious about those patterns, find humor where we can, and work toward a life that feels authentically yours. I'll also invite us to explore how the identities you hold and the systems you navigate shape your experiences – context matters.
Values That Guide Our Sessions
01
COLLABORATIVE
We co-create each session based on your needs – whether that’s revisiting a topic from last session or generally coping with (*gestures vaguely*) the state of the world. You lead the way, and I guide the process.
02
HOLISTIC
You are more than your symptoms. We consider the personal, cultural, and social context surrounding your experiences because you don't exist in a vacuum. Context isn't a footnote. It's central to everything we do.
03
GOAL-ORIENTED
Every session has purpose even on days that feel like detours. Your values and goals serve as our compass. As you progress in your therapy journey, we check-in along the way and recalibrate as needed.

Beyond the Virtual Couch
In 2025 I learned that I have an AuDHD neurotype. Even as a therapist, It took many years to get there. I still have “aha moments” when I revisit past experiences through a neurodivergent lens.
As an avid traveler, I love finding hidden gems like restaurants & whimsical stationary shops. I’ve collected passport stamps from Peru, Singapore, Hong Kong, Japan, Brazil, Spain, Italy, Greece, France, The Netherlands, Taiwan & Canada.
As a Classics major turned psychologist, I’m drawn to “The Hero's Journey” - a framework describing the universal experience of facing fears, transforming, and gaining wisdom. It applies everywhere from Greek mythology to the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Change is possible. It starts with one conversation.
